What to Pack for a Glamping Holiday
So, you have booked your glamping stay with us, and now you’re counting down the days to your arrival. If you’re starting to get organised then you are probably wondering about what to pack for a glamping holiday to make sure you’re prepared with everything you need to go glamping.
At Legan Castle Farmhouse, we want you to enjoy the experience of camping without all the work and expense. This means that, on your glamping holiday with us, you won’t need to pack as much compared to most other glamping sites or a traditional camping trip.
We pride ourselves on taking all the hard work, hassle and added expense out of “camping”, providing everything you need so you can relax and make the most of luxury glamping with us.
In fact, when we give our guests a tour of our site on arrival, they often gasp, “Wow! You really have thought of everything!”.
That being said, you’re not going to turn up empty-handed! So to help you save space in your suitcase, we’ve put together this glamping holiday packing list so you can easily see what you might need… and what you don’t!
Your Glamping Packing List
If you’re sitting there wondering “what do I need for glamping”? Then this list of what to pack for a glamping holiday at Legan Castle Farmhouse is just what you need. As we’ve said already, one of the benefits of glamping with us is we provide lots of the glamping supplies you need, but there may be some things you want to bring as home comforts or to make the most of your trip.
So before you start packing, work through this what to pack for a glamping trip checklist to make sure you leave behind everything we’ve covered for you!
Glamping Accommodation
At Legan Castle Farmhouse, your tent is pitched to perfection. This means you don’t have to worry about struggling to wedge all the equipment into the car or fighting with a ground sheet and poles in the wind!
Better yet, our Safari Tents have raised timber flooring and rugs, and our Bell Tents are fully carpeted. So you can rest assured they are professionally floored and there’s not a plastic ground sheet in sight!
To embrace the novelty of camping, our tents don’t have electricity. Our luxury glamping tents are decorated with solar festoon lights, LED Hurricane Lanterns and candles, and communal areas and walkways have walk-through sensor LED lighting.
This ensures our site is perfect for viewing the starry night sky and we recommend downloading the SkyView app to learn more about the stars you’ll see!
Glamping Bedding
At other glamping sites, you may be required to bring the following;
- Blow Up/Roll Up Mattress
- Sleeping Bag/Duvet
- Pillows
- Bed Sheets
- Blankets
- Hot Water Bottles
You don’t need to pack any of this for your glamping holiday at Legan Castle Farmhouse.
Our glamping tents come with “proper beds” to guarantee you a cosy and comfortable night’s sleep. So there won’t be a blow-up mattress in sight! Our beds are made with deep mattresses and toppers, duck-down duvets and pillows, and dressed in crisp white hotel-style bed linen.
We also provide extra blankets and hot water bottles for those who like to be extra toasty!
Glamping Essentials
Oftentimes when packing for a holiday at other glamping sites, or for a traditional camping trip, you may be required to provide your own cooking equipment, BBQ, utensils, crockery, glassware, etc.
At Legan Castle Farmhouse, we want you to embrace the fun of cooking, eating and relaxing around your tent without having to pack everything and the kitchen sink to do so. So you don’t need to pack any of these glamping essentials when you stay with us. We’ve got you covered.
Our tents are equipped with outdoor furniture, tables and chairs, a private Weber charcoal BBQ, and a fire pit. We have lump wood charcoal, firewood, and firelighter kits to purchase on-site, or you are welcome to bring your own if you wish.
Children love foraging along the hedgerows for kindling to get the fire started for roasting marshmallows. But don’t worry about packing your own, as we have an unlimited supply of marshmallows for our guests to enjoy.
Our well-appointed kitchen comes fully equipped with;
- Designated fridge space

If your preference is to self-cater, we are within close proximity to local shops, there is a gorgeous farmers’ market on the parade in Kilkenny on Thursdays, or for a lazy Sunday stroll, you can check out the Mountain Views farmers’ market.
Thomastown and Kilkenny also host many restaurants, from casual dining to fine dining at award-winning Michelin Star restaurants.
Glamping Entertainment and Games
Before guests arrive, sometimes parents are concerned whether their children will be “bored”. We can assure you that is absolutely not the case!
Nothing is more wholesome than watching your children embrace nature, and the countryside, while enjoying time with family.
You will be amazed at how beneficial it is to spend time away from technology and embrace more outdoor activites.
On glamping holidays with us, children enjoy playing the “old fashioned way”, with games like hide and seek, tag, and who remembers 40 40 home?!
We encourage guests to have a sense of adventure and play.
There are lots of local activities with things to do and explore during your glamping holiday with us. For recommendations, we’ve put together this list of things to do in Kilkenny, so you make the most of your stay.
Whilst we really encourage you to try to disconnect during your stay with us, we know it’s not always possible, so you may want to pack;
- Phone
- Tablet
- Laptop
- EarPods
We have free Wi-Fi and charging points in our main glamping area.
